In 2002 Darby and her family traveled to Vietnam in support of Face the Challenge.
Golden played with the patients before surgery. Taylor assisted in surgery. John worked in the recovery room and Darby visited with the US Ambassador to talk about Face the Challenge.
Face the Challenge is a non-profit organization consisting of volunteer medical professionals who provide medical care primarily for children, but also for adults, in developing countries. The FTC's primary goal is to surgically correct facial deformities of the world's youngest and poorest.
Since 1993 Face the Challenge teams have provided free surgeries and medical care in the cities of Sucre and Santa Cruz and both the lowlands and Andes Mountains of Bolivia, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, and Shenyang, China.
2003 and 2004 found Darby and her family at the Oncology Ward of Children's Hospital in Denver delivering Halloween, Christmas and Easter gifts. These pictures show Golden and Julia Popham preparing and delivering Easter Baskets to the children. |
